Luxor ticket prices can feel like a maze of extras. What does the Valley of the Kings really cost, and which tombs need another ticket? Here is a clear price guide, a sample two-day budget and a few tricks to avoid surprises at the gate.
What Will a Classic Two-Day Luxor Round Cost?
About 2,510 EGP per foreign adult for the five headline sights: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s temple, Medinet Habu, Karnak and Luxor Temple. These are the prices we last checked in October 2026, so treat them as a guide.
Across the River: Tombs and Temples by Price
The West Bank holds the tombs, so it holds most of the cost. Here are the usual foreign adult prices.

Smaller extras add value too. The Tombs of the Nobles cost about 120 to 200 EGP per tomb group, which makes them a cheap and quiet bonus.
East Bank Ticket Prices
The East Bank is cheaper, and the temples are close together. Karnak and Luxor Temple make an easy second day.

Evening sound-and-light shows are separate tickets. Expect about 960 EGP each at Karnak and Luxor Temple.
The Extra Tickets Nobody Mentions at the Gate
Your Valley of the Kings ticket covers three regular tombs. Some famous tombs sell separate tickets, and that is where budgets quietly grow.

- Tombs of Ramesses V and VI: about 220 EGP extra.

Where Does Your Money Go Furthest?
On the sights that reward a long visit. Karnak and the Valley of the Kings give the most hours of wonder per pound.
- Karnak: allow two to three hours, and arrive at opening for cool air and soft light.
- Valley of the Kings: choose three tombs with different moods, such as colourful, large and quiet.
- Medinet Habu: one of the best-value tickets on the list, with deep carvings and few crowds.
Which Tickets Can You Skip Without Regret?
The extras. The three regular tombs already deliver painted walls and royal burial chambers. Seti I’s tomb is stunning, but it is the most expensive ticket and is sometimes closed. Tutankhamun’s tomb is small and famous mainly for its story, because his treasures now live in a museum in Cairo.
If your budget is tight, spend it on a good guide and an early start instead. They improve every site you visit.
Three Ways to Budget Your Luxor Sightseeing
Here is how the totals stack up for one adult.
- Core two days: 2,510 EGP.
- Core plus Tutankhamun: 3,210 EGP.
- Core, Tutankhamun and the Luxor Museum: 3,610 EGP.

How Do You Pay at the Gate?
Bring a bank card. Egypt has been moving ticketing to cards and self-service machines across 110 museums and archaeological sites, as reported by Egypt Independent.
- Carry a card with chip and PIN, and tell your bank you are travelling.
- Keep small Egyptian pounds for tips, snacks and toilets.
- Students with a valid ID usually get 50 percent off at official ticket counters.

Do Luxor ticket prices include a guide?
No. Tickets cover entry only. Guides, transport, meals and balloon flights are separate costs, so ask your operator exactly what is included before you book.
Can I buy Luxor tickets online before I arrive?
Sometimes. Official online booking and a mobile app exist, but most visitors still buy at the gate with a card.
Do Luxor ticket prices change often?
They have risen in recent years and can change with little notice. Confirm the current price at the ticket office before you queue, and keep a little extra in your budget for increases.
Are prices the same for Egyptians and foreigners?
