What this Egypt tour package covers
In Cairo you visit Memphis, Saqqara, the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. In Luxor you see Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings and the West Bank. Then you sail south for four nights on a traditional dahabiya, visiting El Kab, Edfu, Gebel el-Silsila and Kom Ombo, before Philae Temple and the Aswan High Dam. A dahabiya is a traditional Nile sailing boat. On this program it takes you between Luxor and Aswan at a slower pace than a road transfer, and the temple visits are planned around the river. Meals are served on board, and soft drinks, water, tea and coffee are included on the dahabiya.

Itinerary
Your guide meets you at Cairo airport with meet and assist, and helps you through arrival. A private air-conditioned vehicle takes you to your Cairo hotel, where you check in and rest after the flight. The rest of the day is free, so you can recover from the journey and get ready for the sites ahead. Your guide will confirm the pickup time for the next morning. Overnight in Cairo, with three nights in total in the city.
Today you visit the oldest parts of the Cairo region. At Memphis, Egypt's first capital, you see the colossal statue of Ramesses II and the alabaster sphinx. Then you go to Saqqara to see the Step Pyramid of Djoser, an early stone pyramid, and the painted tombs of Old Kingdom nobles, where the wall scenes show daily life in great detail. Your Egyptologist explains how pyramid building developed. You return to Cairo with a free afternoon and spend the night in your hotel.
This morning you visit the Giza plateau, with the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx. Your Egyptologist explains how and why they were built, and you have time for photographs. Entering a pyramid is optional and needs an extra ticket. In the afternoon you go to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened officially on 1 November 2025 near the pyramids and displays the complete Tutankhamun collection. Overnight in Cairo.
After breakfast you transfer to Cairo airport for the flight to Luxor, which is included in the price. Your guide meets you in Luxor and takes you to Karnak Temple, where you walk through the Hypostyle Hall with its giant columns and see the sacred lake. In the late afternoon you visit Luxor Temple and learn how the two temples were linked by the avenue of sphinxes. Overnight in a Luxor hotel.
You spend the morning on the West Bank of Luxor. The Valley of the Kings has the painted tombs of New Kingdom pharaohs, and the standard ticket gives access to three tombs. You also see the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch you drive south to Esna and board your private dahabiya, a traditional Nile sailing boat. Your cruise begins this evening, with dinner and the first night on board.
The dahabiya continues up the Nile through the countryside. Today you visit El Kab, an ancient town with rock-cut tombs of local officials, and the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Your Egyptologist explains the temple reliefs and the rituals they record. Between the visits you relax on deck, watching village life and farmland pass along the riverbank. Lunch and dinner are served on board, and you spend the night on the dahabiya.
Today the dahabiya reaches Gebel el-Silsila, where the sandstone quarries supplied much of the stone for the great temples of Egypt. Your Egyptologist shows you the cut cliffs and the shrines carved nearby. Later you stop at Bisaw Island for a walk or a swim, depending on conditions. The afternoon is slow and quiet on the river, and the boat moors at Maniha for the night. All meals are served on board; this is your third night on the dahabiya.
In the morning you visit the double temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and to Horus the Elder, with a mirrored layout of two sanctuaries side by side. Then you stop at the market town of Daraw to see local life. The dahabiya sails on toward Aswan through the afternoon, and you spend the evening and your fourth and last night on board. Meals are served on the boat, with soft drinks, water, tea and coffee included.
You disembark at Aswan. This morning you take a motorboat to Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, the sanctuary of the goddess Isis, which was moved to its present site when the original island was flooded. Your Egyptologist explains the temple and its later history. You also see the Aswan High Dam, and then check in to your Aswan hotel. The afternoon is free, so you can walk through the souk or along the Nile corniche. Overnight in Aswan.
After breakfast, a private vehicle takes you to Aswan airport for your departure flight, which is included in the price. If your flight time allows, ask us in advance about the optional Abu Simbel excursion, which is not included. Your guide helps with the transfer and makes sure you reach the airport on time, so keep your passport and tickets ready. This ends your 10-day Egypt tour, with nine nights across Cairo, Luxor, the dahabiya and Aswan.
