What this 7 day Egypt itinerary covers
The route follows the classic line from north to south. You spend two nights in Cairo, two in Luxor and two in Aswan. On the last day you visit Abu Simbel from Aswan and then fly back to Cairo. The day-by-day plan is in the itinerary below.

Why Cairo, Luxor and Aswan in seven days
Cairo gives you the Giza plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened on 1 November 2025 and displays the complete Tutankhamun collection. Luxor holds Karnak, Luxor Temple and the royal tombs of the West Bank. Aswan adds Philae and the High Dam, and it is the starting point for Abu Simbel. Seven days is enough to see these highlights without a rushed schedule, because the two domestic flights replace the long road and rail transfers.
Add a Nile cruise or a balloon flight
Because the tour is private, the plan can change. You can add a sunrise hot air balloon flight in Luxor, or ask us about a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, such as our 4 night Nile cruise or the 6 night dahabiya cruise. Practical notes
The best months for sightseeing in Upper Egypt are October to April, when daytime temperatures are comfortable. Itinerary
Our representative meets you at Cairo International Airport and takes you to your hotel by private vehicle. The rest of the day is free, so you can rest after the flight. If you arrive early and still have energy, your guide can suggest an easy first walk through Old Cairo or the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Both are optional and not part of the fixed program. Dinner is not included, and your guide can recommend a restaurant near the hotel. Overnight in Cairo.
Your Egyptologist guide takes you to the Giza plateau to see the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx and the panoramic desert viewpoint, with time to take photos and ask questions at your own pace. After lunch you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened on 1 November 2025 and displays the complete Tutankhamun collection. Entrance fees for the Giza plateau and the museum are included. Going inside a pyramid is optional and costs extra. Overnight in Cairo.
After breakfast you transfer to Cairo airport for the domestic flight to Luxor, which is included in the price. In Luxor your guide takes you to Karnak Temple and then to Luxor Temple, and explains how ancient Thebes grew over many centuries. Lunch is included during the tour, and you have time to rest at the hotel before a free evening. Dinner is not included, so you can choose where to eat. Overnight in Luxor.
Today you cross to the West Bank with your guide to see the Valley of the Kings, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. The standard Valley of the Kings ticket covers three tombs, and your guide helps you choose which ones to enter. An optional sunrise hot air balloon flight over the West Bank can be added before breakfast. It is not included in the price. Lunch is included. Overnight in Luxor.
You leave Luxor by private vehicle and drive south along the Nile. The first stop is the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The second is Kom Ombo, a double temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and to Horus. Your guide explains the reliefs and the history of both sites, and lunch is included during the day. You reach Aswan later in the day, check in at your hotel and have a free evening. Overnight in Aswan.
Your guide takes you to Philae Temple, the temple of Isis, which you reach by a short boat ride to the island. Then you see the High Dam, which regulates the flow of the Nile at Aswan. The rest of the afternoon is free, so you can walk along the river or rest at the hotel. Lunch is included during the tour. Tomorrow starts early because of the drive to Abu Simbel, so plan a quiet evening. Overnight in Aswan.
Start early with your guide and private vehicle for the drive from Aswan to Abu Simbel. You visit the Great Temple of Ramesses II, with its four colossal statues, and the smaller Temple of Nefertari. An international campaign led by UNESCO moved both temples to higher ground in the 1960s to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. After lunch you return to Aswan and transfer to the airport for the included domestic flight to Cairo.
